Greeting

Hey thanks for checking out my blog! This site will be where I post everything concerning the build of my twin turbo Z. At the bottom of the page you'll find videos and pictures of other Z cars, these will help give you an idea of what I'm trying to build so check 'em out.

Stuck again

Well I must say that the current situation is consistent with the whole process of building my car so far. We cannot figure out why the clutch isn't working. We have tried to bleed the clutch multiple times but to no avail. Right now we are waiting to have someone take a closer look at my car, who knows how long it will take this time. I promise you this though, I will be driving it this summer!

Clutch Issues

So my brother identified the timing issue and adjusted the cam angle sensor in my car. Now it runs without backfiring! However we still dont know what the issue is with the clutch. Tomorrow night he will be taking a look at it to see if there is an air leak somewhere. Hopefully I will have a drivable 300zx by Friday! Granted it is like four different colors right now haha, but I love it enough to drive it anyway.

Success

I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but now I have something to post! Check out this video. Its the first start up since putting in the JDM engine. I have some tuning issues and fuel issues to deal with as well as a non functioning clutch, but it's getting closer!

Update

It has been a while since I was one here haha, but a degree in mechanical engineering takes up quite a lot of time. I have some bad news about the car. It is not running after the JDM motor swap. We suspect that the problem has to do with the wiring. As soon as I get the money I will purchase a new wiring harness to replace the old one. I hope doing so will solve the issue. Since we have to pull the motor again to put in the new wiring harness I am also looking to uprade my turbos to T28 Godspeed turbos. If I buy these I will also purchase new turbo manifolds and a larger front mount intercooler. Then of course comes the paint! I will keep you posted periodically if anyone ever reads this. Pics will be coming too.

engine

I got a surprise gift last week. My mom and my brother bought me a used JDM VG30DETT. Thats my twin turbo engine for my Z!! Im so excited that i dont know what to do. Soon I will be dropping the engine into my car, then I will be able to finish my wiring and put together the interior. Then I will have a running car with a sweet interior, and no seats hahaha! I still need to sell the white seat covers i have on ebay, and then use that money to buy some blue and black racing seats with harnesses to match the rest of the interior. This car is going to start coming together really quickly and im pumped! I will be sure to post more pictures of the engine and the interior when i get around to it, i have a lot of work to do still.

Thanks, check back soon

Body Work....

Since the engine in this car had to be torn out and rebuilt most of my summer had been spent doing body and interior work, both of which I have come to realize are time consuming and expensive. I had to come up with the color scheme I wanted for the car, and Decided the interior would be black and blue carbo fiber, and the outside of the car would be a daytona blue similar to that of the Nissan 350Z and that it would have gold rims. This combo I felt would make the car stand out without saying that I was a douchebag just looking for attention. so I began my work with a heat gun. I had to go around the entire outside of the car heating up the old primer and scraping it off, and that was the easy part. The last owner of this car tried to cover up all of the natural body lines with mind boggling amounts of body filler or bondo. Taking all of this crap off took me the better part of two months and in the process I found out that the current body kit had been destroyed. So I took off all of the fenders, bumpers, etc. and now I need to buy a body kit as well as paint. This car keeps getting more and more expensive, which in turn means that it will take longer to complete. I dont really mind too much because I enjoy the work I'm doing. I also tore apart the interior of my car, and from the pictures you can tell that it was a mess of wires that I had no clue to tell what they did. To figure out the electronics I will need help from my brother, who is the master teacher behind this operation. The interior panels were taken to WyoTech, where I was lucky enough have the upholstery department use my pieces as a class project and the work was done for free, I only had to pay for materials. I have the completed pieces and in my next blog I will be posting pictures of all of the pieces. So until then, check out my pics and enjoy! Oh and dont be afraid to leave a comment on my blog, it's nice to know someone is reading and hopefully enjoying the things I have to write about. Thanks everyone!

The beginning

Everything in these pictures was done before I knew that the car was mine. My brother towed it home and began assesing the build. He tore out the motor and found the reason the prior owner was glad to be rid of this beautiful car. A bent piston rod had siezed the engine and was now my problem. This just meant i would have to spend more money buying a JDM engine, and keeping most of the parts from this engine to use in another engine build down the road. One which will produce far more power. So take a look.
